What is IDX?

Internet Data Exchange, or IDX, is a  tool that can be added to your business website. This tool gives consumers the ability to search for MLS listings directly from your business website. Adding IDX to your business website is a great way of increasing the potential to generate leads from your website.

How do I Add IDX to My Website?

1. Choose an IDX Vendor. The types of services IDX vendors provide will vary depending on the vendor. For example, some vendors may offer a complete website package (i.e. building the website, hosting the website, integrating IDX into the website), while other vendors may simply provide you with an IDX tool that you can add to your existing website.

Note: To view a list of IDX vendors currently licensed with the MLS, open Data Licensing from the Tools tab of the MLS. Then select View Companies Licensed to Provide IDX Services.

2. Sign Up with your preferred Vendor. Once you have researched and selected a vendor, you will need to contact that vendor directly and sign up to use their services.

3. Finally, complete IDX Setup in the MLS. Once you have signed up with a vendor, you will create an IDX subscription, which registers your website with the MLS. Click here for instructions on how to complete the IDX Setup in the MLS.

What Type of Listings Can I Show on My Website?

Consumers and potential clients will be able to search for Active, Backup, and Under Contract listings using the IDX listing search tool on your website.

Is there a Cost for IDX?

UtahRealEstate.com charges a one-time $50 registration fee for all new IDX subscriptions. Once you have created a subscription and registered your website with the MLS, you can change your website domain/URL, as well as the vendor you are using at any time and without having to pay any additional fees.

Note: The vendor you use for your IDX and website services will likely have a separate fee which you will pay to that company directly. Vendor fees can vary, depending on the vendor you are using and the services you are receiving from the vendor.
